Yet Another Reason to Send (Me) Flowers

Every so often I find myself wanting to send someone flowers, and each and every time I end up wasting hours upon hours online looking for an arrangement that (A) is pretty, (B) is associated with something do-goody, and (C) is not so absurdly expensive that I might as well send champagne, truffles, and cashmere.

Sadly, I've never had much success.

Until today! I just noticed that a company called Organic Style (not to be confused with the late, great mag of the same name) has a whole collection of "Charity Bouquets" that donate 5% of the price to a worthy organization. For example, when you send someone the gorgeous bouquet of 2-dozen roses pictured above, 5% of the $64.95 price tag is donated to the Global Fund for Women which advocates for and defends women's human rights by making grants to support women's groups around the world. Pretty cool, right?

I also love the chartreuse roses below. 5% of their price is donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Fill me in if you know of any other bouquets/delivery programs that do more than spread the pretty!

That's a great cause, I have to suggest this to my florist when I stop by tonight.

Hi -- great that you pointed this out. It makes a lot of sense and I am now on the lookout for similar stuff here in the Uk. Meanwhile, in terms of eco/green florists in the UK, I found Arena. They are mainly concerned with fair production and sourcing. Check out their policy here http://www.arenaflowers.com/fair_flowers_fair_plants
And then there is Albelia who sells some fairtrade products to go with their flowers http://www.freewebs.com/cedarwood/fairtrade.htm
Anyway, will keep looking. Thanks for the great idea!
