First, I read (and told you) about the yoga retreat at DeLoach Vineyards. And then, just today, I stumbled upon the website for Ubuntu, an organic, vegetarian restaurant and yoga studio that opened in August in downtown Napa. The yoga-dining hybrid is clearly sweeping the nation! Someone should alert the Times.
Okay, so really three times makes a trend, but I'm sure there's a third yoga-dining hybrid out there somewhere. Who am I kidding? There are probably two, three, fifty more. A couple of those might even be outside of California.
Like DeLoach, Ubuntu has biodynamic gardens that supply the restaurant with much of its produce, and the majority of their 200 wines come from sustainably farmed grapes. In addition, the restaurant itself is quite chic and green, with reclaimed wood floors and furniture built by Heritage Salvage, an eco-friendly design company that uses only wood salvaged from existing structures or windfall. Ubuntu's daily-harvested, vegetable-based menu looks fabulous, and just reading the 42-classes-per-week yoga schedule makes me feel a tiny bit closer to having Jennifer Aniston's body.
Next time I'm namastarving, I'm heading to Ubuntu. Wanna come?
